Born in Siberia, Grigori Efimovitch Rasputin aka “The Mad Monk” ruled over the minds of his fellow russian countrymen because of his mystical skills.
Becoming a close relative to the Tzar’s family he ended up being poisoned, shot and thrown into a river.
To quote Peter Steele from TYPE O NEGATIVE when being asked why the band had chosen Rasputin to feature on their 2007 album “Dead Again :
“The guy was an Orthodox Russian, and I’m a Roman Catholic. He was an alcoholic, a drug addict, a womanizer. …And he looks like one of us โ he hasn’t bathed in two months, he’s unshaven and he hated the world.”
