The cruel Carpathian lady condemned for the torture and killing of hundreds virgins was deeply convinced that bathing in virgin blood could keep her youth and beauty eternal.
An icon of cruelty who inspired young swedish metalhead Thomas Forsberg to go under the monicker “Quorthon” and start a band called BATHORY as well as numerous other acts to write songs about the blood countess.
The most notorious being CRADLE OF FILTH’s 1998 album “Cruelty And The Beast”. Putting good taste at its firmament by inviting Ingrid Pitt who played the countess in the movie “Countess Dracula”.
